Is Peace Possible?

Whether you realize it or not, peace can be found in this modern, fast paced world.
The Bible says:
Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight, by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ has done for us.
Romans 5:1 (NLT)

What did He do?
Christ also suffered when He died for our sins once for all time.  He never sinned, but He died for sinners that He might bring us safely home to God.
1 Peter 3:28 (NLT)

Why did He die for us?
For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
John 10:10 (NLT)

There's a problem, though . . . sin.  It separates us from God.
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.
Proverbs 14:12 (NLT)

Your sins have cut you off from God.  Because of your sins, He has turned away and will not listen anymore.
Isaiah 59:2 (NLT)

For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard.
Romans 3:23 (NLT)

Death is always the result of choosing sin.  Sin is anything that separates us from God.

There is hope!
God spoke of it in Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT):
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord.  "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

You may rationalize it in your mind, but in reality there is only one way to peace and hope -- Jesus.  Jesus sacrificed Himself willingly.  He took our sins -- became sin -- in order to give us a life and a hope.

For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people.  He is the man Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:5 (NLT)

But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
Romans 5:8 (NLT)

You have a choice to make:
Life (eternal life with God)
Death (eternal separation from God)

Choose Life!
In order to get this new life, there are a few things you need to do:

  1. Acknowledge (know with absolute assurance) that your sin has separated you from God.
  2. Agree that Jesus Christ is the only way for your salvation.
  3. Truly want to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and ask Him to come into your heart and control your life through the Holy Spirit.

For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 (NLT)

If you understand the significance of what Jesus did on the cross, how He did it willingly and His love for you, you can receive God's love and acceptance.

To do this you must pray and confess your need for God.

Lord Jesus Christ:
I know that I'm a sinner and that out of your sacrificial love for me, You died on the cross.  Thank you for that love.  I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins.  I want to turn away from sin and invite you into my heart.  I open my life to you and will trust and follow you as Lord and Savior.
Amen

Our all knowing God is not concerned with your words.  He is concerned with the attitude of your heart.

The Great Adventure!

You are now "born again" into God's family.  You can feel completely secure in the fact that God loves you and will never disown or reject you.

Like a child, you need to grow in your new life -- your walk with God.

  1. Read the Bible.  There are several modern translations that are easy to understand.  Learn who God is and His love for you.  A good place to start is the book of 1 John.  It is near the back and is a quick read.  It is written by the apostle John.  He was there with Jesus and really knew Jesus.  Next read one of the Gospels -- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  These books tell about the life of Jesus, your Savior.  You can also visit our links page and find several on-line daily devotionals.  Do you need a Bible?  We can get you one.
  2. Make prayer (talking to God) a priority.  How can you build a relationship without communication?  Read His word.  Learn of His love and devotion to you.  Tell Him of your faith and devotion to Him.  Quiet your mind in order to hear what He says.  There is nothing you can't ask Him or not tell Him.
  3. Find a church where you can grow and contribute.  We know of several churches in the Rome area where you can grow and feel at home.  They range from traditional to contemporary.  Contact us at 706-295-1409 or email ccemrome@bellsouth.net and we will put you in touch with people who are loving and concerned about your spiritual growth.  You can write us at: Christian Counseling and Education Ministries; 100 Redmond Road; Rome, GA  30165.  We will also send you some information to get you started on this journey to peace.

Welcome to the Family!  We're glad you're here!
