Providing Alternatives and Assistance to Women
in Unplanned Pregnancies

What is the Pregnancy Center?

The Pregnancy Center was opened in March 1986 as a ministry, locally organized and supported, to provide alternatives to abortion for women with unplanned pregnancies.  The scope of the ministry includes operation of the Pregnancy Center, development of educational programs, community involvement, and information dissemination.
First and foremost, the Pregnancy Center is Christians demonstrating and extending the love of God to women and families experiencing unplanned pregnancies.  Out of that love, the Pregnancy Center exists to meet the needs of the pregnant women, whether they be physical, emotional, or spiritual.
Women may be in conflict between their personal, vocational, or financial needs and the added responsibilities of a pregnancy.  This often makes them feel pressured to choose abortion.  At the Pregnancy Center, the key focus is the atmosphere of love and acceptance given to the women and their families.
With this focus, the Pregnancy Center strives to educate women on the sanctity of life and the reality of their preborn child.  Then the women are assisted in investigating positive, pro-life alternatives.

What services are offered?

The  Pregnancy Center offers immediate services to the potential client, as well as ongoing support and community referral services.  All services are free of charge.

How does the Pregnancy Center operate?

Once a woman comes to the Pregnancy Center she has taken the first step in getting help through her crisis.  At the Pregnancy Center the following activities are completed:

  • An assistant cheerfully greets the woman and gathers initial intake information regarding the possible pregnancy and individual concerns.
  • A free pregnancy test is completed.
  • A videotape presentation is shown on pregnancy, fetal development, and abortion procedures.
  • The assistant enters into discussion regarding services of the Pregnancy Center, the outcome of the pregnancy test, and alternatives for the woman.
  • The woman decides on her options and elects to continue or discontinue contact with the Pregnancy Center.

Is the Pregnancy Center making a difference?

The Pregnancy Center is making a difference in the lives of women, their families, and their babies.  The following statements made by women who have come to the Center best tell the story.

"It really means a lot to me to know that there are so many
wonderful people in the world that really care."

"I never would have had my abortion if I had known there was
someone like you to help me.  This time I will have my baby."

What if the woman wants an abortion?

The Pregnancy Center is not a medical facility and no information is ever given or implied that abortions are available at the Pregnancy Center.  The Pregnancy Center firmly believes that activities of the Center cannot be honored or blessed if any seemingly deceptive tactics are used.

Who staffs the Pregnancy Center?

The staff of the Pregnancy Center includes a part-time director and trained volunteers who serve as assistants, encouragers, and support personnel.  The staff does not claim to be professionals; rather they seek to develop relationships of friendship with the women experiencing unplanned pregnancies.
The following comments from Pregnancy Center volunteers express the influence of the Pregnancy Center on their lives:

"I am more aware than ever of all the subtle ways our society
pressures young people to be involved sexually."

"As I listen to the situations of girls from every background,
it is clear to me that most are not aware of the alternatives to
     abortion."

"We really care about the people who come to our Center.
Knowing someone cares makes a lot of difference to all of us."

What does the Pregnancy Center do in the community?
