Christian Counseling and Education Ministries
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Christian Counseling and Education Ministries is a community-based ministry dedicated to meeting specific needs by using the truths and principles of God's Word. Several major goals were set forth by the Board of Directors in 1980. These goals are as follows:
Provide competent counseling for individuals and families using Biblically and psychologically sound principles.
Provide community seminars by bringing outstanding, nationally known speakers who could minister to specific needs of large groups of people.
Provide seminars and retreats for smaller church groups.
Provide women in crisis pregnancy situations with alternatives to abortion. Raising the level of public awareness on abortion through education is a vital part of this goal.
Sponsor the annual Rome Area Prayer Breakfast. The purpose of this goal is to minister to the business community by challenging and encouraging them through dynamic, authoritative Christian speakers. A major focus is to raise the level of awareness on issues directly affecting the community, such as the family and abortion issues. A brief presentation on steps being taken by our ministries to deal with these steps is also made.
Maintain a Christian Library/Media Center. This service is important as support and follow-up to counseling. It is also intended to support smaller, local churches who have limited library and education capabilities.
Developing a writing ministry is an important goal. The initial focus would be to develop brochures for the offices of attorneys and physicians outlining Christian alternatives to divorce and abortion. This goal could be expanded to include newspaper articles and books on various topics involving a Biblical approach to dealing with problems.
